Five Fixes That Make a Shopify Store Faster

Store speed affects conversion and search visibility. These five changes resolve the slowest parts of most Shopify storefronts.

A slow storefront costs you twice: shoppers leave, and search engines rank you lower. Most Shopify performance problems come from a small set of fixes.

1. Audit the apps you installed

Every app adds scripts. Lists of installed apps grow quietly, and each one can block rendering. Remove what you do not use and lazy-load what you can.

2. Compress and size your images

Oversized product images are the single most common cause of slow pages. Serve modern formats, and never ship a 4000px image into a 600px slot.

3. Reduce theme bloat

Themes accumulate sections, scripts, and fonts over time. A lean theme that does less, faster, usually outperforms a feature-rich one.

4. Defer third-party scripts

Analytics, chat widgets, and pixels do not need to block the first paint. Load them after the page is interactive.

5. Measure what shoppers feel

Track Largest Contentful Paint and Interaction to Next Paint on real devices, not just a desktop test. Mobile is where the numbers usually hurt.

Performance is not a one-time project. It is a habit you keep as the store grows.
